Steering & Suspension Introduction

Steering & Suspension Advanced

The steering and suspension system's job is to keep the car in correct alignment with the road, provide directional control for the car and give a smooth safe ride to the passengers.

For instance, many people think that the shock absorber is only to provide a smooth ride. A smooth ride is one function of the shock absorber. Another function is to keep the tire in contact with the road at all times and to control the jounce and rebound o the spring. If the tires loose contact with the road then the driver could loose control of the vehicle.
